Virgo

VirgoDear Virgo,

If you haven’t read it yet, you might want to check out my article on Sun Signs in general before you read the article below.

When you’re being typical, your Sun in the element of earth makes you motivated by material needs and practicality. You tend to relate to life through a thorough analysis of what you deem to be the facts of a situation to come to the right solution. In your case, this can make you quite pragmatic.

Because Virgo is also a mutable sign, you are sensitive and respond to life pressure by adapting. You find a way to work with the circumstances you’re confronted with and figure out a way to take advantage of them. You are learning to be of service: to be receptive to a purpose beyond you that compels you to make use of your many practical skills both for yourself and for others. They really need the order you bring. Besides, you need to really be of help to be true to yourself. You are looking for a way to continually improve and your presence, when you are willing, is a genuine healing influence on those around you.

Your sign Virgo tends to get short shrift in the astrological literature. Who wants to be a virgin forever? But the virginity of Virgo is not about virginity as it commonly understood today. It’s not about sexuality, but rather attaining and maintaining a psychological purity so that you can be complete on your own. Anything else can be contaminating, which goes against the grain of what you really are.

Virgo is about the process, not the end of it. Your path of self development works when you are separating the wheat, what’s truly valuable, from the chaff, which is not. In this life, you are refining yourself so that you can be a better and better vessel for transforming what’s base around you.

In the northern hemisphere, where astrology was born, the Sun’s passage through the sign of Virgo coincides with the harvest.

Virgo archetypes include:

  • The Healer
  • The Skeptic
  • The Worrier
  • The Puritan

Proper care and feeding of your Sun sign means:

  • Keeping your nervous system from stressing out over imperfection
  • Seeking opportunities to be of intelligent and practical service
  • Learning the necessary crafts so that you can work through life’s details and improve things
  • Continually keeping in the mind that you are living for the process not the outcome

Love,

Michael
